You get a better indication of your car’s brakes locking up, or when you should slam down on the throttle to stop your car from wheel spinning. The effect they have in driving games is immediately noticeable, and it makes a tangible difference to the overall experience. This was always a missed opportunity for me, as the controller's impulse triggers are genuinely great. Even Microsoft's first-party studios have been guilty of ignoring the feature, which has been particularly frustrating. Over a decade of using them as such is a lot of muscle memory to overcome.I'd wager a guess that maybe a dozen or so games actually bothered to implement any sort of trigger rumble, and the majority of games that did were Forza Motorsport 5, 6, 7 and the Forza Horizon series. Off the top of my head, throttle would be digital when FA is on or you're in supercruise, and has the option to toggle analog for flight assist off?Īs it is now, without an actual dedicated throttle peripheral, which we aren't getting on Xbox, it's just so hard to maintain a constant distance from a target without flight assist helping.Īnyone with alternate control config are welcome to chime in as well, but I just really like having throttle on the triggers. I suppose that due to the "snap back" on elite triggers this could be an issue, since with FA on you would always be at zero throttle, but there has to be a workaround. I either go full forward or full reverse, no in between, which means when I'm flying my Courier with FA off I'm always just alternating between way too fast or standing still.Ĭonsidering the triggers are already analog, I don't see why this doesn't work. This actually works fine while I have flight assist on, the throttle goes up or down and sticks where I leave it, but is just a disaster for FA off. So why can't I use them in elite? I currently have thrust on my triggers and my guns on the bumpers, (I use an elite controller, so I mapped my guns to the top two paddles, allowing me to still shoot and thrust simultaneously,) but elite only "simulates" analog for your throttle. Xbox triggers are analog in just about every game with a throttle, every racing game, every gta clone, even the sparrow bikes in destiny. Thanks again for helping me out.īasically as the title says. So far it seem to be working very well, but I'm coming home from one last taxi mission before update so I haven't tried it in combat yet. And emergency stop is then just a quick right trigger and release to set thrust to zero. I can even use just left trigger for fine tuning my speed, albeit only down thrust. However I can still use left trigger plus the face buttons as cruise control for when I'm just cruising the system, as long as I don't hit the right trigger, my thrust will stay at whatever I set. So now once I touch right trigger my throttle switches to manual control, no pull is zero thrust, max pull is 100%. ("Forward thrust only" seemed to keep me at 50% thrust by default.) I still have my left trigger as decrease thrust which allows me to reverse, but I've bound left trigger + a/b/x/y to set thrust 25/50/100/75. I've now got the throttle axis on my right trigger, instead of increase thrust, set for full range. Edit: Thanks for the responses, I can't believe I missed the analog throttle option, because I've already messed with my bindings a bunch and had looked for it, but must have just spaced out.
